Fundraiser for Two Great Charities Nov 9, 2008 09:19 PM
On September 13, 2008, minute91 hosted a charity event in New York City, NY, to benefit two charities following the Real Salt Lake vs. New York Red Bulls match. The event drew players from both teams in support of Seth Stammler's (NYRB) Sporting Chance Foundation and Andy Williams' (RSL) Soccer Unites Utah.
Inspired by the positive attitude and strong will of the Haitian people, Sporting Chance Foundation was founded to better the standard of living in Haiti. By teaming up with prominent athletes, various communities, and businesses around the World, Sporting Chance is raising money to concentrate on what we believe are two of the most important aspects of bettering life in Haiti, education and clean/potable water. Both of which many Americans take for granted, yet few Haitians have easy access to an education and many have to walk over 10 miles to get potable water.
Soccer Unites Utah is a charitable group that is raising funds to offset the costs of chemotherapy treatments and a bone marrow transplant for Marcia Williams, the wife of Andy, after she was recently diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia.
